Fresh juice is chock-full of nutrients that will energize your body, build your health, and help you fight disease. Vitamins, minerals, enzymes, antioxidants, phytonutrients, and soluble fiber can all be found in a simple glass of juice.
Below are some recipes that I thought would appeal to Tupelo fans. When sampling these healthy cocktails at home, try to buy organic produce. Since the nutrients will be shooting straight for your bloodstream, it's best to leave behind any toxic chemicals that might be lingering in non-organics.
Mood Magic
3 fennel stalks, including leaves and flowers
3 carrots, scrubbed well, tops removed, ends trimmed
2 stalks celery
½ pear
½-inch chunk gingerroot, scrubbed or peeled if old
Cut Produce to fit your juicer's feed tube. Juice ingredients and stir. Pour ingredients into a glass and drink as soon as possible. Serves 1-2.
Note: Fennel juice has been used as a traditional tonic to help the body release endorphins, the “feel good” peptides, from the brain into the bloodstream. Endorphins help to diminish anxiety and fear and generate a mood of euphoria.
1 handful dandelion greens
3 to 4 carrots, scrubbed well, tops removed and ends trimmed
½ cucumber, peeled
½ lemon, peeled
Bunch up dandelion greens. Cut produce to fit your juicer's feed tube. Tuck greens in feed tube and push through with a carrot. Juice remaining ingredients, finishing with a carrot. Stir the juice, pour into a glass, and drink as soon as possible.
Note: Dandelion juice is a traditional remedy for cleansing the liver.
1 cucumber, peeled
1 parsnip, peeled
2 to 3 carrots, scrubbed well, tops removed, ends trimmed
½ lemon, peeled
¼ green bell pepper
Cut produce to fit your juicer's feed tube. Juice ingredients and stir. Pour into glass and drink as soon as possible. Serves1 to 2.
Note: Cucumber and bell pepper are good sources of the trace mineral silicon, which is recommended to strengthen skin, hair, and fingernails along with bones. In studies silicon has been shown to reduce signs of aging, such as improving thickness of skin and reducing wrinkles.

Note: Turnip juice has been used as a traditional remedy to strengthen lung tissue.

1 small turnip, scrubbed well, tops removed, ends trimmed
1 to 2 garlic cloves
½ green apple such as Granny Smith

Bunch up watercress. Cut produce to fit your juicer's feed tube. Tuck the watercress in the feed tube and push through with the turnip. Juice remaining ingredients, finishing with a carrot. Stir the juice, pour into a glass and drink as soon as possible. Serves 1.
Note: Studies show that garlic has a compound that has a natural antibiotic-like effect, and is very helpful for the immune system. It is antibacterial, antifungal, and antiparasitic, and antiviral, but it must be consumed raw to have this effect.
Another great reference for going raw is, Raw Food Life Force Energy, by Natalie Rose. Rose is fun to read, she makes a lot of sense, and knows how to relate to everyday people.
Cheers!
